Photo 40

Today I feel like I've moved house without actually going anywhere. I have pushed and pulled furniture, turned mattresses, dropped a football shirt off to be framed, picked it back up, stuck a gaming decal to the wall, hung up blinds (twice - back to front then correctly!), wiped, cleaned, scrubbed, mopped, sorted and thrown away yet more 'stuff'.

Mark has helped with all of the above, but I've also had to carry on with the usual washing, ironing and cooking.

The bathroom has had a suitcase, a big plastic storage box and a travel cot in it for the past 3 days so that's had a clear out and clean. The airing cupboard has been pared down and I've also cleaned our bedroom.

Mid afternoon I stopped for an ice-cream. The only ones in the freezer were chocolate and I'm not a fan but I ate it anyway I was that hot and bothered.

On Tuesday we're having new carpet in the Xbox room which means tomorrow we have to remove all the shelving units and the suite. More mess.

It's just gone 6pm and I've been on the go since 8am. I am officially knackered with a big fat capital K. I've made myself a brew and I'm going to sit down now for the rest of the evening.

Hope your Saturday has been less busy than mine.

  1. Oh, my! You definitely deserve to sit down and put your feet up! You did a TON of things! My Saturday is just getting started. I should get some cleaning done before it gets too hot (only 84F inside the house right now, at 10:30 a.m.), but I am reading blogs and watching some quilting/sewing shows on TV!

    1. I must admit I was ready to sit down by the end of the day. I have to count my blessings though, at least I'm able to do all these things :)

Today will be emptying the Xbox room and then I think I'll call it quits. We'll probably remove the cabinets tomorrow when Thomas is at school. xx

  2. We have driven home from St Anne's with Norrie towing our caravan for the last time in 34 years. I have nearly emptied it as well but I like to bring stuff in and put it away at once. Norrie however likes to bring it in and put it on any flat surface available-sceeeeeeam! Just a few more things tomorrow and then the big clean will begin before it's collected on Thursday. Lots of outside work will then be neede to make something of the area where the caravan stood. I have a cunning plan but am drip feeding it to Norrie so that he feels it was a good plan of his! Going to join some more handsewn hexies as I am now beyond cream crackered. Catriona

    1. The end of an era Catriona, but a new on is on the horizon. When we've been away I like everything in straight away so I can start putting it away. It's amazing what we bring back with us!

Haha, very clever to make Norris think whatever you're planning has been his idea all along. Wish we had somewhere for our van, it would make trips a bit easier and save us some money, but we don't so it has to go into storage. xx

  4. Enjoy your evening and get you breath back before tomorrow. I bought a decal for the bathroom but its still sitting in the drawer I haven't had the courage to mount it. Are they difficult?

    1. I sat down and didn't move again Tania. By 10pm I was completely shattered but still couldn't sleep when I went to bed. Infuriating. Have woken up ready to start again though.

The decal wasn't too hard to put on, although because of the size and the fact it had letters etc. and wasn't just one piece, it took 2 of us to peel the backing off. We just rubbed over a couple of inches at a time with a cloth to warm it up and make sure it stuck to the wall then peeledd it off. xx

  5. You deserve a day off tomorrow not more labours!
I was up this morning with good intentions but haven't achieved much at all. Too much faffing. Some serious decluttering needs to happen, it feels overwhelming, hence the faffing.

    1. I'm splitting the Xbox room over the next couple of days Jan. Today, I'll empty the shelves then tomorrow we'll take out the furniture and shelving. It'll be easier to do that when Thomas is at school. Apart from that and a bit of ironing I intend not doing much else and I'm hoping to sit down and catch some tennis.

De-cluttering is never ending here but I enjoy doing it. We got rid of quite a bit of stuff yesterday but I bet I'm doing it again in a few weeks. I don't buy much so no idea where it all comes from! xx

    1. I'm hoping today won't be quite as busy as well Sheila. I'd like to sit down this afternoon and watch some tennis. I've not managed to catch any this week what with one thing and another. Considering I'm home all day I've no idea where time goes. xx

    1. I'm on my way :) When the mood strikes there's no stopping me, plus Thomas on the floor beside us and having to crawl in and out of bed was good inspiration to get the job done.

Some days I wake up and even the basics seem hard so I try to make the most of my energetic days when I can. xx

  8. Oh my goodness! Don't you just love the chaos that comes with decorating. It's all looking good though. Thomas must be thrilled. Is he back in his room now? X

    1. Why is it even if you're decorating one room the whole house is upside down? It's all done now thank goodness and yes, Thomas is back in his own room. It was fun camping out with him though, he makes us laugh and there really was no shutting him up, we literally had to ignore him for him to go to sleep! xx

  9. blimey you've done well. And no, my day wasn't even a fraction of your busy one so you're making me feel quite lazy.

But at least it's done, and it all looks rather fab! Come and sort out my mess for me, will you?! xx

    1. Well you made me feel quite envious, sat her sweating like a pig looking at your macaroons and strawberries - so we're quits lol. Sounds as though you had a lovely day and us Mums deserve them as often as we can get them.

Yes, it's done thank goodness. Thomas loves it especially the gaming decal, it's what his life is all about after all. As I said to Liz, I'm free to a good home as long as tea and cake is on offer :) xx
