It's Mark's birthday today. I can't believe it's a year since we were over at Lytham with Matthew and Sophie, it only feels like yesterday.

He's probably having a great day. Not that we're a part of it. Every so often a watch meeting will be organised in Manchester where under the disguise of discussing technical details and specs (yawn), they will have a bit of a session on the real ale. Today is that day. It's not a problem, sometimes we do birthdays, sometimes we don't. As long as he's enjoying himself that's the main thing.

Meanwhile at Number 38 the jigsaw has been finished, more granny squares are on the go and the TV remote is under my total control. In fact I'm just wiping a few tears away after watching Braveheart.

Hope you're all enjoying your Saturday.

  1. A very Happy (or should that be merry) Birthday to Mark.
It's lovely to see the jigsaw looking so bright a cheery on such a grey and miserable evening here. Oh, and if you can tell me how you managed to get control of the tv remote I would be very grateful. X

    1. It was a merry birthday Jules as I knew it would be! I'm ready for a bit of sun and dry weather now, mainly so that the flowers in the garden can do their thing. The remote thing is definitely another male trait. I love it when Mark's not home and it belongs to me :) xx

  2. Happy Birthday to Mark.

Wish I could get control of our remote. I think Andy has it superglued to his hand...lol.

    Love that jigsaw.
    Hugs-x-

    1. Thank you Sheila. The only time it gets handed to me is when he can't find anything he wants to watch but not so I can watch something. He wants me to look and see if there's anything 'we' might like! He also has an annoying habit of being on the laptop so I'll get it and start to look for something and he'll put the laptop down and say "what are we watching then". Drives me up the wall. xx

  3. Happy birthday Mark. I gave up on the control last evening and went to bed after realising there was rugby and formula 1 on TV!

    1. Thank you Tania. Yes, the only time I can really watch anything in peace is when he's not here. There are a lot of things we do enjoy watching together but then he starts pausing the programme so he can get a drink, something to eat, go to the loo. Honestly a 50 minute programme can take 90 minutes to watch. Infuriating. Quite often I give up watching because it's too much stopping and starting for me. xx

    1. It was a bit Rachel but it serves him right. He doesn't do it often but he's a man of excess in the beer drinking department. xx

  5. Birthday Felicitations to Mark!

My top tip for happy marriage is separate TVs and bathrooms! I'm not even joking! xx

    1. Thank you Sadie. Haha I think you're right. I reckon a lot more marriages would last if houses were built with a male and female side and a common room in the middle. xx
