Postcards from The Van Day 6

Phew! Today has been a scorcher. So much so that we made a family decision to just stay by the van. Fine by me.

So, what to do when you can't cool down? Strip off to your undies and pour water over yourself of course, although I should add it was only Thomas who did that! It wasn't long before the water pistols came out though and we were all wet. Great fun.
This evening we all headed to the sea front for a walk and to try and cool down. It was still too hot though and we came back worse then when we left! The dogs enjoyed it though, especially the ice-cream part.

Wish you were here :) xx

  1. Water play and ice cream are excellent ways to cool off when it's hot. It is only in the 90s, here, today, so not too bad. We are supposed to get to 100+ later in the week.

    1. Mark and I have been talking about how you cope in the heat Bless. One day of 30C with no breeze and we were wiped out. Don't know how you do it day after day. xx

  2. I blasted Violet with the hose! Well, she announced that her bra and pants looked like a bikini and went out in the garden wearing them. I was washing down the wheelie bin and by sheer accident I managed to get her instead. She loved it though, and went off to put on her swimming costume so I could do it a bit more!

Glad you are taking it easy and enjoying yourselves. Two days left for us then it's Freedom here too. xx

    1. Oh you can't beat a good soaking when it's hot. Thomas thoroughly enjoyed his water fight. Wish I could have stripped down to my undies but don't want to be banned from the Caravan Club or end up on the front page of the Daily Mail...... xxx

  3. Cool drinks and sitting by the fan in the dining room.
I just hope it doesn't get any hotter than it is now.
Staying by the van sounds like absolute bliss to me-x-

    1. A day at the van was a good choice but we pushed our luck in the evening. It was still as hot when we went for a walk. Was glad to get back here so we could sit under the tree in the shade. xx

  4. I was wilting at work. It was 32C. The poor HG had to go and fit windows in it and the customer never offered the lads ONE drink! They have their own mind but still, some people. They finished the job and could have the next day off. He felt so ill he just slept all day. We are English AND Northeners - we are not used to this heat LOL! The grass at the back of the caravan looks such a nice patch! I laughed at you not stripping off for the headlines in the Daily Mail!
CC shock, mum banned for life as she strips to her knickers!!!

    1. Oh I find that really mean. I always offer drinks and when the lads were laying our drive in winter it was freezing so I made them bacon butties as well to keep them going. I like summer but not the sort of heat we've had a couple of days this week. The trouble is we don't get any time to acclimatise here, it's all or nothing and can change within hours. xx
