The Good and Not So Good

Good - I went to see 'Me Before You' at the cinema with Amy and her friend. I've read the book and so has Amy so we knew what was coming but we still cried - a lot!

Good - I  cleared all the caravan stuff off the table, got the sewing machine out and ran up 10 pencil cases. They'd already been cut and pressed so it didn't take very long. I have another 10 to do.
Good - A few household jobs done here and there, but nothing too much - a load of washing in, some ironing, lasagne made for tea, floors swept, bathroom swished, a bit of a tidy here and there. I'll give it a good going over next week when Amy and Thomas go back to school. They're only back for 6 weeks before the summer holidays begin. Cannot believe how quickly this school year has gone again.
Good - Amy had a trial run at the hairdressers for prom night. She didn't want a full up-do preferring to keep it down. It looks lovely at the front but she didn't have her make-up on so wouldn't let me take a photo of her face.
Not So Good - Mark was rear ended by a HGV on the motorway. The traffic wasn't moving and the driver somehow managed to kangaroo into him 4 times. The back of the car is all scraped and has been shunted so much the boot won't shut.
Not So Good - Matthew has organised a surprise weekend away for the two of them for Mark's 50th. They're going tomorrow morning.... in our car.

Not So Good - It's proving hard to get hold of a car for the time they need to be setting off. I have Cherry and Sophie has a small car but neither are really suitable for travelling 2-3 hours on the motorway.

Good - Mark isn't hurt and as inconvenient as all this is, that's the main thing.

  1. Thank goodness Mark is ok. I hope they get something sorted for tomorrow. Amy's hair looks gorgeous. It's the one worry I have for my wedding as I'm having to do mine myself and I'm not sure how to style it. I was going to make risotto tomorrow night but now I'm craving lasagne! X

    1. Under no circumstances are you to straighten your hair :) My friend had lovely curly hair but always had the straighteners on it! Amy's hair is quite simple but looks lovely. I had mine up for my wedding and a piece came down at the back. Drove me mad all day. Can clearly remember my Chief Bridesmaid constantly pinning it back up. It Can't be many weeks now until your big day? xx

  2. What a blessing your husband is unhurt! Everything else regarding the car is an annoyance and an inconvenience.

    Amy's hair looks lovely!

    How is Thomas' foot?

Your pencil cases look great! I like the foam decorations you added. Yum! Lasagna! I haven't made it in a long time, but your picture is making me want some!

    1. Yes, it could have been a lot worse so I'm grateful Mark is OK. It's proving a nightmare for him to sort out though. The car has been towed somewhere to be repaired but it's a new car under warranty and Audi want it back with them because if anybody else touches it the warranty becomes void. So Mark is trying to contact the place where the car is to tell them not to do anything, which is proving difficult, nobody seems to be answering their phones. On top of that it's now 10.15am, they're supposed to be setting off at 11am and he's still trying to sort a car out. I really feel sorry for him. This is supposed to be a day where he just gets up, gets ready and sets off for a fun weekend with Matthew. Not the best start to his birthday treat :(

Thomas' foot seems to be OK. There's a tiny bit still in there but he won't let me go near it. I keep putting antiseptic cream on it and will keep my eye on it. xx

  3. ooh, rotten about the car, but yes, a good thing that Mark was ok. Scary though.

    Love Amy's hair, so pretty.

You've been busy and you've only just got back. Missed you by the way. Hope you had a great birthday. will email soon, but can't give a day as to when. Going to be busy! Should be getting up and getting on right now, but I'm just too tempted to stay in bed for a while longer. Have tons to do and a little girl who's going to go POP if she gets any more excited about her bd!!! (If I hear the phrase 'it's my birthday, I think my head is going to go flipping pop too).

    1. Aww bless her. I should think Violet is excited seeing all the things you've organised for her. Meant to say that the ribbon on the pinata looks tons better than the original. Only takes something little to make a massive difference sometimes doesn't it.

I'm typing this at 10am. Mark is supposed to be setting off at 11am. He's still on the phone trying to organise a car! I'm glad he's OK but I feel really sorry for him that he's having to sort all this out when he's supposed to be just getting up, getting into the mood and getting ready to enjoy his weekend with Matthew. They've been winding each other up about the whole thing for the past couple of weeks and when Mark rang him to tell him the car had been pranged Matthew didn't believe him at first!

I'm sure when he gets there he'll thoroughly enjoy what's in store for him. Just hope he gets a car. Cherry can do about 55 mph before she starts shaking lol. Brilliant city car but not really made for motorway driving. xx

    1. Oh yes, you definitely need a box of tissues. It has it's weepy moments, but it's more when you think a bit deeper about how in a split second your life can be completely changed forever. xx

  5. Good to hear there were no injuries in the car motorway incident. As you know, the mister here experienced something similar recently (involving a wagon and trailer) but the damage was irreparable and he's now having to look for another car. As you say, annoying but could have been so much worse. Looks like the stylist did a really good job with Amy's hairdo. It looks perfect.

    1. We're not sure ours will be repaired. It's got to be done by Audi for it to remain under warranty and they are notoriously expensive so the insurance company might not want to go down that route. We'll have to wait and see. We're supposed to be picking the caravan up in 2 weeks as well and we were having a tow bar fitted tomorrow which won't happen now, so that might get put back as well. Such a pain and so bloody annoying when it's not your fault. xx

    1. Not been to Lidl this week with being away but I'll have a look when I go:) Yes, Mark was lucky but it's still annoying. No idea what the driver was doing. Amy's hair looked lovely. I'll be posting picture of her all dolled up when it's prom night whether she likes it or not haha. xx

  7. Amy's hair looks beautiful!
I'm so glad nobody got hurt in the accident. Hopefully the car is fixable. And I hope the lads have fun with the guns! (Big boys and their toys, eh?)

    1. Thank you Angel Jem. Amy was really happy with how it was done.

Mark certainly loves his toys that's for sure. The accident could have been a lot worse but it's so frustrating. We've only had the car a few months as well. We've yet to see if it will be fixed or a write off. No doubt there will be loads more phone calls this week to sort it all out. xx

    1. Nope, car is still not sorted but it can be fixed although the earliest date we've been told we're looking at is 30th June. That means although he's been given a car we've had problems with them trying to find one that's big enough and has a towbar so we can carry on with picking the caravan up. They've struggled but they finally came up trumps last Friday and we'll get it this Thursday. It's been a right pain to be honest xx
