Happy Days

A little posy of flowers from the garden to brighten up the start of the week.
The beginnings of another small quilt using up the cut offs. I'm so glad Catriona asked if they needed quilting in the traditional way as when I asked the co-ordinator, no they don't. They're quite happy with fleece just being sewn to the back, a bit like the taggies I made, which were easy enough to do.
Amy wanted to go to The Fort for a DS game and while we were there I picked up this fleece for a great price which will be ideal for backing the girl's quilts. It's quite thick and really soft and snuggly. In fact I'm tempted to wrap myself up in it.
It's been a slow easy day here today. Lately I seem to be pottering from one thing to another in a bid to try and slow the pace of life down a little. Some days are just good for no reason whatsoever and today was one of those days.

  1. Your flowers are very pretty and colorful. Nothing like fresh flowers to brighten up the place!

Yet another quilt! You are getting full value from the fabric you bought! That fleece looks lovely, too. I'm glad you don't have to do the quilting; that's my least favorite part, too! I prefer the patchwork part.

Hope you have a lovely week of good days as today has been for you.

    1. I've not got any flowers at the moment as we've been away and the house was feeling a bit flat so I thought a little posy would add a bit of colour.

I have got my monies worth from the material that's for sure and yes, I'm relieved I don't have to actually quilt, the coward that I am haha.

Another good day today and hopefully even better to come as Matthew and Sophie's baby should be with us in the next couple of day! Very excited. xx

  2. I think you are one of the most brilliant people on the planet. Thinking of a wee soul snuggled in your lovely blanket has made me tear up X

    1. Aww shucks Rachel, thank you so much. I get so much enjoyment from making these things, although I'd rather be making items under happier circumstances, but if it brings a small smile to somebody's face, that's the main thing. xx

  3. That fleece is so pretty. I'm with Rachel, you really are rather brilliant.

Such beautiful flowers. Nothing as nice as walking round your own garden and snipping a few blooms to bring inside.

Glad you had a nice day. We all did too! Violet had a good day at school, the dr's visit went well, medicine today then that's it, she's better (please God it never returns), and I had a pleasant day pottering at home.
Days like that are so good.

    1. Aww Sadie, that's very kind of you to say so. I'd love a big garden with loads of flowers in for me to cut, I always feel a pang of envy when I see people on TV with a basket pottering in their garden cutting roses haha.

So glad that Violet is back at school. It's good to get back to normal isn't it :) xx

  4. We had a lovely day in Southport where despite the forecast there was no rain. What a change from the last time we visited. Managed to watch the Sewing Bee on the i-pad but still not feeling the love for this year's programme sadly. Catriona

    1. Mark wanted to go boating yesterday and today but didn't because of the forecast and both days have pretty much been fine! I'm not a sewing bee fan but I do like the British Bake Off. xx

    1. Thank you MMC. Sometimes nothing happening is just as good as a big day out isn't it. xx

  6. Glad you are enjoying the van - it is good to get away for a couple of days but nice to go home again. Which garden centre did you visit, I thought I knew them all in this area but don't recognise it from your pictures? Hope everything goes well with the baby. xx. Pauline

    1. Hi Pauline, yes, we are definitely enjoying the van and we do get the best of both worlds. The garden centre is called The Garden Place and is on Cropper Road. They're building new houses opposite. We are still waiting for baby to arrive. xx

  7. You are getting on so well with your various crafts lately you put me to shame. I love that floral fleece. It looks so cosy. Those little bonnets you knitted for the little dolls were so cute too.

    1. It's at the expense of housework though Alison but I'd rather be making than dusting at the moment haha. The fleece is lovely. I've made a baby hat today. Will post a picture tomorrow when I can concentrate more. xx
