Colour Coded Family

I have succumbed to a few filofax frillys. Some coloured dots, gel pens and coloured tabs. Apart from a roll of washi tape, which Mum is donating to me, I think that'll be it.

As you can see we have now become a colour coded family. As silly as it sounds, the dots jump right out at you and make it really easy to see who's doing what.
These were the shoes I bought for the weekend away. They are the most comfy pair I've worn for a long time and I will be buying a similar pair when I go to Bury this week.
The honeysuckle flowered while we were away and there are plenty of buds still to open.
I've started gathering a few things for the caravan this weekend. The initial set up is the hardest part but most things will stay put and in future we won't take much more than clothes and food with us.

The car side of things has been a bit of a faff. We have 'like for like' insurance and although we didn't expect an exact replica of Mark's car, we did expect a 4 door that could tow a caravan. So when a BMW coupe turned up we were a bit surprised. As well as being impractical for us it won't tow the caravan either so Mark was on the phone quite a lot last week trying to sort it out. Finally, on Friday they found something suitable which means we are able to go away this weekend.

  1. TFFT!!! Blooming car insurance! I bet he was secretly thrilled though when the little sports car turned up! I colour code my plans and things at work - it really helps my brain to sort things properly! The weekend seems so far away!

    1. Yes, blooming car insurance indeed! Never mind the like for like guarantee, they initially asked us if we even needed a car or was Mark able to use mine or a relatives. If it was for a day or two, then yes probably we could jig things around, but the earliest date for getting it back we've been given is 30th June!

My memory is rubbish these days, so anything visual like a colour code is really helpful. Means I don't have to think so much haha.

Aww, are you having one of those weeks that seems to go on forever? I'll do you a swapsie. Send me your 'go slow' and I'll send you my 'flying by'. xx

  2. What a great idea to colour code your family. You should get them to dress in the relevant shade too. ;) I should really be more organised. I do like things written down in my diary though, rather than using my phone so maybe a filo fax could work for me too. Lily, however, is sticker crazy so they would soon disappear. Your shoes are really nice and your nails are fabulous m'dear. I hope you get everything sorted ok for the weekend. X

    1. Haha, I like the idea of a colour coded family Jules. Have never got to grips with being organised tecnhologically. It's pen and paper all the way for me and I'm too long in the tooth to change now.

Amy used to like the story book stickers, where you had to find the characters etc. and fill in the gaps.

The nails aren't as neat as usual. I can't bend over as well as I used to but I don't think it's too obvious from a distance! xx

  3. We have the same shoes! I have them in brown, and they are so sparkly. My only tip is not to walk too far in them. Last week I wore them when I walked down to Morrisons, over a hill and far away, on the way back I thought 'ooh, shouldn't have worn these' because they really are comfy, but they rub under the ball of the foot. So that's why I got a corking blister! My own fault. I knew I should have worn something with more support, but it was sunny, and I love to see them sparkle!

Good work on the colour coding. I ordered (and received) my refills on last week, and it's all thanks to you talking Filofax. Normally I leave it late and start feeling panicky, but now I feel smug and organised!

Have a fab Tuesday. Honeysuckle looks gorgeous, bet it smells it too. xx

    1. Oooh we are such classy chicks aren't we with our choice of shoes. I didn't see them in brown but I'll have a look in Bury tomorrow. They have a similar pair that have flowers on which I liked the look of but I went for the sparkle for the casino. No blisters for me thankfully, but then I haven't done a 5 mile hike in mine lol. They're really comfy because they're open and I'm suffering with an arthritic 2nd toe at the moment. Oh boy does it hurt and my ballet shoes make it worse. Can you tell I'm pushing 50!

Do you order a school year diary or just a normal one? Should I be panicking and ordering a diary for next year already? xx

    2. We are. Total class! Even with your arthritic 2nd toe! :O) Like the sound of shoes with flowers, I need those in my life.

I get normal refills. I think I'd get confused with school year ones, even though I see the logic.
Yes. order your refills now. It's just nice to have them all set up and ready to go :O) xxx

    3. Oooo wait till you see me new sparkly sandals! Although it's rained everyday since I got them!! I love my new school diaries! Especially the bit coming after 21st July!! But we get one from work every year, mines turquoise for next year and I love writing all the new stuff in it!

    4. Haha, typical that isn't it Rachel. You can join the 'cool chicks' club now if you have new sparkly sandals.

I shall look out for a 2017 diary infill on my travels Sadie. Don't want to let the filofax world down by not being prepared haha.

Smiling at your school diary comment Rachel. It's reminded me we did that at our school. The teachers and TA's would spend ages deciding which style of diary and which colour. One of the highlights of their year I think. Of coure, they'd promptly forget what they'd ordered so when they all turned up it was mayhem. Luckily the Bursar had been there for years and knew what they were like so kept a list. xx

  4. Color-coding is a good way to be organized. Your new shoes are very pretty! Glad they are comfortable, as well. The flowers are lovely!

    1. I've started looking at shoes for comfort rather than style, a sure sign of getting older and having an arthritic toe doesn't help either :) These came up trumps on comfort and sparkle so I'll be buying a similar pair today in Bury if they have any. xx
