Five sayings that sum up my day

Strike while the iron's hot. After mentioning my ironing board cover I bought a new one today while out shopping with Mum.
Making an executive decision (aka admitting defeat). From now on all teddies and dollies will have crosses for eyes. Decision made.
Best Foot Forward. I'm hot. Hotter than I've been for a while. I think it's a combination of the weather and a few 'senior moments', but today it warranted my 'tribute to Bet Lynch' flip flops.
Dinner won't cook itself. So I did it. But why I chose to cook roast chicken, roast potatoes and veg for tea on the hottest day of the year is beyond me. 'Twas delicious though.
Where has the week gone. The weeks go by quickly enough but throw a Bank Holiday into the mix and they fly by. How did we get to Friday again?

Hope you're all looking forward to the weekend. .

  1. Loved the five sayings! Each one is so true! That is a very pretty ironing board cover! And I agree with your executive decision about all the teddy and doll faces having crosses for eyes! Simple and easy is best! Very pretty flip flops, too! And the dinner you prepared was probably enjoyed by the whole family. As for it being Friday again - enjoy it! It'll soon be Monday again!

Hope you have a lovely weekend.

    1. Yes, I think crosses for teddy eyes was the right decision. It was driving me bonkers trying to get them right. I could have knitted another one by the time I'd messed around with its face.

Dinner was delicious, even if I say so myself. We've not had a 'roast' for a couple of weeks. There were clean plates all round.

We have some plans this weekend so as you say, no doubt Monday will be upon us before we know it. This afternoon we are going to the Willard Wigan exhibition and tomorrow we are planning to go 'caravan hunting' again. It's all go at Number 38! xx

  2. That dinner looks delicious! It is true, Bank Holidays mess with your head. x

    1. I've been a day behind all week. And I don't know why because some days are very routine like Bury on Wednesday and shopping on Thursday. But it felt like I was doing everything on the wrong day. Back to normal next week thank goodness. My brain is befuddled enough at times without having a Bank Holiday to contend with. xx

  3. Senior moments! I know all about those. Sudden hot flushes that give a big old rosy glow for no reason, and you have to explain to whoever you're talking to 'in my 40's, I'm just having a moment'! Oh the joys.

Love your ironing board cover. Where did you get it, pray? I need one badly. I should show mine, actually, no I shouldn't, it's horrendous. Ripped and burnt. It's shameful.

    Fab flops! Very Bet Lynch.

What is it about making a roast dinner on a hot day? I do that and then think 'why? why didn't I just do a salad?'. Yours looks nice, nice big old pot of gravy there. :O)

    Have a fabulous Saturday xx

    1. It's a pain isn't it. I'm always cold but suddenly I'll feel like I've been wrapped up in a huge duvet that I can't throw off! Thankfully that's as far as it's gone at the moment. No flushes or sweats as such, for which I'm very grateful.

I thought of you when I bought the ironing board cover:) I got it from Poundstretcher and it was the grand sum of £3.99. I splashed out actually. There were stripy ones for £1.99 but I preferred the flowers. Oh, you need to show your ironing board cover, definitely. And I've not forgotten those dolls dresses you made for Violet either :)

The gravy was Lidl's finest chicken granules. I have never made my own gravy. Mum does and my sister does but I can't be bothered faffing with meat juices and veg water and thickner or whatever else you do for gravy. It's granules every time - and it's my dirty little secret.

Off to the Willard Wigan exhibition this afternoon. Really looking forward to that. And then I think we're caravan hunting again tomorrow. Enjoy your Saturday with Violet and your weekend all together. xx

  4. It's finally glorious here and I'm hot n sweaty! But that's to do with my inches of self insulation! I love a cheeky mid week roast! Might do one Wednesday myself!
My ironing board cover is bright red with white polka dots!

    1. I'm falling behind with my replies, very remiss of me. It might not have been the best day for a roast but it went down a treat. For some reason I find them easier to make in the week then on a Sunday when they seem to take up the whole day. No idea why.

Ooh, bright red and white polka dots. I'd have struggled with choosing if that had been on offer. I'm partial to a bit of red in the house.

The weekend has been gorgeous hasn't it. Hope you had a good one. xx

  5. A brilliant five. Had to giggle at the Bet Lynch mention. Did you were huge hoppy or dangly earrings too?

    1. No earrings but I have to confess I have a leopard print top in the wardrobe. No kidding. xx
