Lifestyle Check

I went for my lifestyle check at the surgery this morning. My BP was fine at 120/70 and my weight was OK too. Surprisingly I didn't fall into the overweight range. I ticked the don't drink, don't smoke boxes along with the don't exercise one! She didn't seem overly concerned and said that as long I'm moving around that's fine. When I think about it I'm always getting up and down, popping in and out shopping etc. so although I don't get all hot and sweaty at the gym I'm not a total couch potato either.

When I first had the HA I would take my blood pressure quite a few times during the day but I don't bother so much now. Today, because the machine was out I took it 3 times. It's surprising how much it can differ. First reading was 120/71, second reading was 119/82 and the third reading was 102/67. I think that's why I stopped taking it so often, it varied too much.
I stopped off at Middleton afterwards and picked up some wool so I can carry on with the cardigan and I also bought a couple more boxes so I can keep my crafting projects a bit more organised.
And I picked up these smiley faces and flowers which are perfect for sticking on the pencil cases for a bit of decoration.
So far I've done 6 blue and 6 pink and I'm on the lookout for a more unisex colour for the next lot. I could go with cream or coffee but I want something brighter like orange or lime. Sadly there seems to be a lack of brightly coloured pillowcases in the shops although there are some red ones in Argos.
I've managed to get some washing dry on the line in between the showers and hailstone and I'm in my PJs now just about to cast on a sleeve. There's nothing much on TV that I want to watch tonight, we haven't really got into Marcella. I might put a Whitechapel on.

Being nosy now. What are you all watching this evening?

    1. You're every man's dream woman Thrift, watching footie. The only games I tend to watch are the World Cup ones when we're playing. Very much a fair weather sports person I'm afraid. xx

    1. Hi Lynn, welcome to Number 38. Love, love, love Better Call Saul. We only found it a few weeks ago and really enjoy it. If we find something we really like we limit ourselves to how many we watch so we can make them last haha. xx

  3. So glad to hear that your BP, etc. were good! Keep it up!

Very pretty boxes for your crafts projects.

I am watching a dance competition known as Dancing with the Stars. :)

    1. Thanks Bless. It's always good to know everything seems to be ticking over nicely. I really need to make an appointment for my blood tests but I don't look forward to having it done, so keep putting it off.

I wonder if Dancing with the Stars is the same as our 'Strictly Come Dancing' where celebrities dance with professional ballroom dancers. It's a really popular programme over here in the UK, much better than the X-Factor in my opinion. xx

  4. glad the lifestyle check went well.

Telly. Hmm. Been watching Only Fools & Horses on UK Gold every night at 8. Remembered about Masterchef at 8.30, so watched that, then back to UK Gold. Wanted to stay up for Real Housewives of Cheshire but couldn't (10 p.m? Oh no, I am dropping off before then!), so will watch it on the Iplayer today.
bored with Corrie & Emmerdale right now, so am giving them the swerve. Never watch Eastenders.

Think that just about covers it! Bet you're glad you asked now! ;o)

    1. You can't beat the old ones can you Sadie. Love Fools & Horses, Dad's Army, Rising Damp, Vicar of Dibley etc etc. Must admit I'm not keen on anything like Real Housewives. I've not watched any soaps for years. I was never into Eastenders or Emmerdale anyway but I did used to like Corrie although I bet I wouldn't know anybody if I watched it now. I think it all stopped when Amy was born and CBBC became our best friend haha. xx

  5. p.s have you checked in Asda? They do pillowcases in loads of colours, can't remember if they have an orange or anything like that, but they have quite a few at good prices.
Love the little stickers :O) x

    1. I just checked and they don't have anything 'bright'. I think I'll just go for the red pillowcases. It's probably the closest I'll come to an either/or colour. xx

  6. Emmerdale, Game of Thrones, both Corries then Marcella in bed. In that order. Monday nights are our tiredest, slobbiest evening of the week! We don't sit at the table on a Monday other! Tea is almost always summat n oven chips but last night was cafe tea. HG liver n onions with mash n greens, Mr 19 had sausage with his mash n greens n I had an Asda diet meal rather nice pulled lamb with shredded sweet potato with greens . The only mash I had was where I licked the spoon!!!
Love the boxes. Love the pencil cases. Well done on passing your health MOT!!

    1. You know Rachel, I'm quite envious of you watching all those programmes in bed. Lying in bed watching TV is something I just can't do as much as I'd love to. We had a TV in the bedroom years ago but it had to go. Mark keeps trying to find Game of Thrones on Sky but it isn't there. He really fancies it but doesn't want to buy the box set. I really like Anna Friel but just can't get into Marcella at all.

Ooh official slobby evenings are the best kind. Ours is Wednesday thanks to Amy having a maths tutor. Mark and Thomas go to McD's and me and Amy just eat something on toast. I love it. No thinking about what to cook is fab. Might have to keep the routine up even after exams have finished.

Blood tests are next but I keep 'forgetting' to make the appt! xx

    2. Lol I only watched Marcella in bed! And then I was falling asleep in it!
Game of Thrones will be back on on boxsets on demand soon if it's not there already. I'm really jealous of you being able to watch it from the beginning with virgin ( oooeeerrrr ) eyes!!

    3. Oh right, I had visions of you snuggling under the duvet for the night as soon as you got in from work. Nothing wrong with that whatsover, I might add. Mark is still looking for Game of Thrones. We're 'Virgins' at Number 38 so I don't think we have it. xx

  7. We are out of telly favourites at the moment. Monday used to be The Walking Dead but that has finished until October. We did watch the OJ thing on Iplayer but that has also finished. Last episode of The A Word tonight and that is it, nothing else on any night of the week that we are watching at the moment. Which is good in its way as I will get more reading done but I like the TV on when I knit so... I haven't done any of the main soaps for about 30 years, there are too many of them and they are on too often!

    1. No soaps here at Number 38 either MMC. Never been into Eastenders or Emmerdale anyway. Corrie was always my favourite but not watched it for years. I like the A Word but I just can't get my head around the fact they seem happy for Joe to wander along those country lanes on his own for miles! Talk about a disaster waiting to happen. Quite fancy the new James Nesbitt series 'The Secret' which starts Friday I think. I'm a sucker for anything based on real events. And of course Home Fires is a must on Sunday evening. xx

  8. Hi I still watch Emmerdale but I have given up watching Corrie, the storylines got too ridiculous! I have been watching Marcella but finding it a little difficult to understand the storyline. Will persever as I think there are only 2 episodes left. Glad you passed your health MOT. xxxx

    1. Hello Pauline and welcome to Number 38. I don't watch soaps at all. To me Emmerdale will always be Annie Sugden, Coronation Street Ken and Deidre, Mavis, Rita, Brian and Gail and Eastenders, Michelle, Lofty, Dirty Den and Angie. I don't think I'm up to date lol!

I usually enjoy anything Anna Friel is in but Marcella hasn't done it for me I'm afraid.

I think the health MOT was an age thing. I probably won't have another ever again, but everything seemed OK so that was good news. I really need to have my bloods taken but keep putting it off. xx

  9. The pencil cases look so cheery. You do such a wonderful thing making them. It must feel very satisfying. I'd do some myself if I knew how to sew. TV wise I find myself watching less and less these days but I did enjoy watching Peter Kay last night. I watched the first episode of Marcella but found it far too intense. I'm glad your health check went well. X

    1. Thank you Jules. I really enjoy making them and faffing around with ribbon, trimmings and stickers etc.

Our TV time is generally 9pm for an hour. I love a good drama and at the moment my favourites are The A Word, Scott & Bailey and Home Fires. If we watch anything in the day it's usually on Netflix. We limit ourselves if we find a really good series otherwise it'd be far too easy to sit here all day glued to the screen when there are other things that need to be done. xx
