Hovering again!

Young Thomas is hovering around me waiting for the computer again so although I'm not on a time limit I'm rattling this post out pretty quickly.

We went to see Joan tonight. The lovely cardigan we bought her has never been seen since she opened it so we bought her another new one today. The only cardi they haven't managed to lose is her oldest, bobbliest, tattiest one with holes in the pockets and we're fed up of seeing her in it. Anyway, we had her initials embroidered on this one and we've brought her tatty one home and thrown it away.
I did 3 teddy faces today. Goodness me, they were fiddly. I could have made a teddy in the time it took me to do these. I've another 3 knitted up waiting for faces and then I'll pop them in the post.
Amy is 16 tomorrow.  She didn't have any needs or wants so she's having some money. I think it's nice to have a gift to open on the day though and she's been mentioning scrap booking lately so when I spied this I bought it. She's quite creative and likes fiddling around with arty stuff, cutting and pasting etc.
And Thomas has bought her some body sprays. When you don't know what you want you may as well have something you're going to use and she gets through these at a right old rate of knots.
Right, passing this over to the boy now. Back tomorrow.

  1. Happy Birthday sweet 16 xxx
Fallen in love with your teddies - they are super cute with faces ( yes, quite the ball ache to sew!! )
The last home my Nanna was in insisted on name tapes sewn in everything like school uniform, but they had their own key worker, whose duty it was to take care of the laundry. So much better than the first who seemed to lose everything, and boiled washed it all.
Have a lovely birthday day tomorrow. Bet it doesn't seem like 16 years ago you were huffing n panting!!!

    1. I unpicked one face quite a few times, I couldn't get the mouth right and it looked a bit freaky. But unpicking wool isn't that easy either.

There's no key worker that we've ever been told of for Joan but she might have one on paper because by law I think there should be? Things getting mislaid is par for the course but some things have completely disappeared which is really annoying.

No it doesn't seem like 16 years ago and even though she was a c-section I'd been induced and the little bit of puffing and panting was more than enough haha. xx

    1. Oh, but those faces! They were a pain in the backside to get right. So fiddly and awkward to do. Amy says 'thank you'. She had a lovely day and the meal was great fun. xx

  4. oh those teddy faces are adorable!

Happy Birthday Amy! I have nothing witty or clever to say, other than have a fabulous day :O)

Violet always boots me off my computer too. Which is fine, but we bought her her own laptop for exactly that reason, but she seems to prefer mine! I walk away to make a cup of tea or go to the loo, and by the time I return, she's in my chair, staring intently at the screen, pretending she's been there for a long time and I can't possibly ask her to give it back! Rotters!

    :O) xx

    1. I really should get the other faces done but I'm loathe to waste an hour trying to get them right today. Maybe when I'm sat watching TV tonight I'll give it a go.

Amy says thank you for the birthday wishes and she had a lovely day.

Yes, same here with computers. Thomas got an ipad and since then hasn't really bothered with the laptop but this particular game can't be played on the ipad. However! This morning he's managed to find a way of getting it onto his Xbox so I've got my laptop back. Not sure for how long though. No doubt something will glitch and he'll need it back. Never mind. Half term is nearly over lol. xx

  5. Love those happy teddys.
The only good thing when children move out is having a house that doesn't stink of dozens of various sprays, shampoos etc etc

    1. What with Amy's body spray and Mark's deodrant spray, me and Thomas nearly suffocate every morning. At least Amy sprays in her room. Mark sprays while he's walking about which means it starts in the bathroom, moves to the landing and his grand finale is in the bedroom. There's no escape and it stinks!

Thos happy teddys made me quite grumpy while I was doing them. xx

  6. Birthday greetings to Amy and hope she had a lovely day celebrating. The teddies look great. I think you did such a good job with their faces. The ones I've made always look like they need a course of anti depressants. Shame about Joan's clothes going awol. Same thing happened to my mum in her nursing home - always brand new items, complete with name tags, and then her lovely gold earrings, never to be seen again. Just shouldn't happen, should it?

    1. She had a lovely day, thanks Liz. The faces are harder than they look to do and I had to unpick a few stitches as they were really lopsided.

The staff say they have a couple of residents who wander and go into rooms and pick up stuff but if that's the case we can never understand why the staff can't find the stuff in these so called 'wanderers' rooms. The beautiful embroidered cardigan I bought her has never been seen since and all her new t-shirts have gone and I've never seen anyone else wearing her stuff either (which I wouldn't actually mind). It just makes you wonder doesn't it. xx
