New Years Eve

We'll be celebrating the New Year in the comfort of our home again this year. We're looking forward to seeing in 2015; Thomas in particular likes the silly string, party poppers and the mad dance we all do to Auld Lang Syne. 

There's always a good firework display near to us, (not sure who does it, but we're very grateful to whichever neighbour it is), so as well as the ones we watch on TV we get to experience some that are a bit more close up and personal.

Mark took his Dad for his scan this morning and then they went to see the consultant. The news isn't good, but not really a surprise to us. There is a mass at the bottom of his lung. The radiographer has yet to confirm cancer but the consultant has pretty much all but said that is what is is. He has come away with a list of several appointments and tests that he has to go for over the next 2 weeks. I'm feeling sad for him but at the same time both Mark and I are very realistic and as Mark said, at 84 years of age, he's had a good innings.

Mum is coming to stay overnight with us again which should be fun. It can be a long night waiting for the clock to strike 12, so I'm making another 'fancy' meal. We're having cream cheese & smoked salmon blini, beef wellington and chocolate brownies with strawberries and cream. 

I have spent a silly amount of time faffing around in the kitchen playing chef, but I've really enjoyed it. It's a long time since I came over all creative in the cookery department. 

And so, as we leave 2014, I would like to wish you all a Very Happy New Year from all at Number 38, wherever you are, whoever you are with and whatever you are doing, have fun.
